Meag-gan O'Reilly
Hello,
I am Dr. Meag-gan, a Stanford trained Psychologist who specializes in restoring worth and wellness for Black people. I am a second-generation, Jamaican-American, mother of two.
I conceptualized, and work through a Liberation Psychology and Cognitive-Behavioral framework. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) permits me to provide a goal-oriented structure, concrete skills, and comprehensive therapeutic support while addressing systems of oppression and discrimination in our lived experiences. I welcome all sexual orientations, ethnicities, nationalities, economic backgrounds, and genders.
Therapy with me begins with an assessment of our fit for working together. I conduct a diagnostic evaluation or intake across the first session. During this time, I will assess whether I can be of benefit to you. After starting treatment, I will be an active guide during our sessions. Prompting you with points of reflection as well as teaching new skills. Therapeutic success for me is when new understandings, new behaviors, and self-compassion have been acquired so that symptoms are reduced or management is at a level to which you feel that you are able to function, and flourish without the support of regular counseling.
Therapy is a collaborative, active process. In order for your therapy to be most successful, you will need to work on things we talk about both during our sessions and outside of our sessions. You are expected to play an active role in your therapy, including collaborating with me to identify treatment goals, completing questionnaires when appropriate, and designing and completing homework assignments.
I look forward to working with you!
